      David G. Evans, a British national, received his B.A. from Oxford University in 1980 and his Ph.D. from Oxford University in 1984. He taught and conducted research at the University of Exeter in the UK from 1985 to 1996. He came to Beijing University of Chemical Technology in September 1996 and is now a Distinguished Professor and the Director of the Science Experiment Center. He has cooperated with academician Duan Xue to open up the research field of layered and layered column structured materials.In recent years, chemical science popularization activities have been widely carried out all over the country, and chemical science popularization experiments have been carried out online using popular science China, Kwai and other network platforms. In 2001, he was awarded the “Friendship Award” by the Chinese government, and in 2005, he was awarded the “International Science and Technology Cooperation Award” by China. In 2008, he was awarded the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by the British Royal Family, and in 2020, he was appointed by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology as the “Ambassador of Popular Science in China”.In the same year, he was selected as one of the “Top Ten Science Popularization Communication Figures” by “Dian Zan·Science Popularization China”, and was honored as one of the “Top Ten Beijing Model Figures in the Year”. “In September 2020, he was invited to attend the symposium for scientists hosted by General Secretary Xi Jinping and spoke as a representative of foreign scientists, offering advice on the national 14th Five-Year Plan.
