On October 14, the opening ceremony of the “Youth Class” in the fall of 2022 of the Youth Global Competence Training Program” was held in an online and offline manner. Wang Yongli, Secretary General of China Education Association for International Exchange, attended and delivered a speech. Nearly 4,000 students from more than 100 project institutions participated via video link. The Executive Director of China Education International Exchange and Training Institute, Mr. Yin Kai, presided over the opening ceremony.
Secretary General Wang Yongli pointed out that the world is in the midst of the unprecedented changes in a century, and China needs a young generation to shoulder the world’s expectations of China. The program has been widely recognized by domestic universities and has also attracted the attention and support of the UN agencies in China. Secretary General Wang Yongli expressed his heartfelt thanks to the participating universities, experts and all the teachers and students of the “Youth Class”.
Zhou Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of North China Electric Power University, Zheng Qinghua, Executive Vice President of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Du Peng, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Renmin University of China, Zhao Yutao, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jiangsu University, and Zhang Liping, Assistant to the President and Executive Vice President of Graduate School of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, shared their experiences. Wang Yong, professor of School of International Relations, Peking University, as the representative of the lecturer, Hu Xinli, teacher of Zhongnan University for Nationalities, as the representative of the class teacher of the Youth Class, and Zuo Wei, student representative of the Youth Class, Shanghai University, spoke at the opening ceremony.
The “ Youth Global Competence Training Program” is a new era youth quality training program established by China Education Association for domestic university students and implemented by China Education International Exchange and Training Institute. The program aims to focus on the talent needs for the future development of the country and accelerate the cultivation of high-level composite talents with national sentiment, global vision and international competitiveness. Currently, 108 universities across China are participating in the program, and the application process for the 2023 program has been launched.
