Foreign Etiquette Workshop – How to Deal with Foreigners in a Polite and Courteous Manner

Event Description:
    China has been known as the “state of etiquette”, Confucius once promoted the “rule of etiquette”, that “without learning etiquette, there is no way to stand”. Foreign etiquette is an important part of international communication. In all kinds of Sino-foreign communication and international cooperation, the only way to achieve better cross-cultural communication is to be familiar with international practices, understand international rules and abide by foreign etiquette. In this workshop, the Youth Global Competence Training and Development Office invited Mr. Ma Yansheng as the workshop facilitator. In this workshop, Mr. Ma will provide students with a strong foundation of etiquette and literacy from his many years of experience in education and international organizations, so that they can strictly adhere to the etiquette of government and business in foreign affairs. We will be able to show the image of a big country more confidently and make a louder voice for China in our future study and work.

Ma Yansheng
    Convener of the Expert Steering Committee of the Youth Global Competence Talent Training Program of the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), consultant to the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, Deputy Director of the Expert Steering Committee of the Innovative Practice Program for Cultivating High-Level Internationalized Talents of the Chinese and Foreign Humanities Exchange Center of the Ministry of Education, Executive Deputy Director of the Expert Steering Committee of the Experimental Zone for Chinese and Foreign Humanities Exchange Education.He is also a member of the Academic and Advisory Committee of the International Competency Development Branch of the Chinese Society of Educational Development Strategy and a member of the Academic Committee of the International Education Branch of the China Education Association.
      He was the Education Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in Houston, the Deputy Permanent Representative of China to UNESCO, the first Education and Culture Counselor of the Chinese Mission to the European Union, the Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University, and the Ministerial Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the French Republic.In December 2012,he was awarded “Honorary Citizen” and appointed “Goodwill Ambassador” by the Mayor of Houston,USA. In August 2017, he was awarded the Academic Chevalier Palmetto Leaf by the French government.
